Court House prides itself on being a home from home, either as a place of respite or as a permanent residence.

We don't have a one size fits all policy, and approach each resident as an individual with unique needs. Some like to remain in the home, others are happy to wander into the village of Cheddar to the cafes and shops. Visitors are encouraged and welcomed at all times with tea and coffee available at all times.

Our competitive fees are available on request and include all personal care, meals, cleaning, laundry and chiropody. The only things that would need to be paid for are newspapers, hairdressers and other personal items.

Meals and Snacks

Refreshments and snacks will be offered at regular intervals throughout the day to all residents and guests. All residents are invited to choose an early morning cup of tea and then chose from an extensive breakfast menu (including cooked breakfast), which is brought to the room on a tray between 8 and 8.30am.

Mid morning coffee and biscuits are available between 10.30 and 11am.

Personal Care

We always carry out a pre admission assessment to ensure that we are ready to meet the needs of each resident when they move into Court House.

Well trained staff are on hand to provide as little or as much care as is required.

We regularly review our care plan system and alongside daily chats with the manager and care staff, we are able to identify any needs the residents have.

Activities

Being based in the centre of Cheddar allows are residents to make use of the towns facilities, but we do ensure there are plenty of activities provided and encourage residents to take part should they so wish.

Activities are arranged regularly (normally one per day) in addition to coffee mornings. These include keep fit, film club, musical entertainment, arts and crafts, afternoon tea, quizzes and board games.

My mother-in-law is fortunate enough to be living at Court House Retirement Home, in one of the courtyard properties. She has a lovely home with a much-valued view of the gardens. From the very first moment I visited the home, I knew she would be well cared for. Staff are considerate, helpful and polite and always on hand with tea and biscuits! The owner undoubtedly goes above and beyond - he is always contactable and so supportive. I really cannot stress how important this has been for the family. I feel happy knowing that my mother-in-law has such kind people looking after her.

In this day and age, it's a real pleasure for us to find Court House Retirement Home in Cheddar, our mother spent her last few years there in the opulence of this beautiful country house and grounds. Moving my mother into Court House Retirement Home made a difficult decision and transition very easy! From the welcome we received on looking around, to the transition period and the move itself couldn't have been better and/or more straightforward. And like a proverbial duck to water, my mother has settled, thoroughly enjoyed what Court House provides and felt right "at home" quickly. This is not accidental - it reflects on the dedication, attitude and training of management and staff who run a properly homely residence for those who live there, with personal attention to detail and care for their needs. Nothing is too much trouble. We feel so lucky to have found an opening with perfect timing.

My father was a resident at Court House Retirement Home for a period of approximately three years. He received extremely good care and attention from the outset when he was still relatively mobile to the last period of his life when the carers at Court House did everything to meet his needs, notwithstanding the extreme challenges of the Covid lockdown. He enjoyed the house and dining room and the garden in particular. At Court House, they managed to create a feeling of home from home and were accommodating and flexible to changing needs and requirements. I can't thank them enough.
